There is something about anguish that can be so humbling. Pain can be disarming depending on how we respond to it.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Just as nerves alert us to problems within the body, so does emotional pain urge us to run to safety - our Strong Tower - when our heart is wavering.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10

A quote from my husband,
"I used to think that pain was my enemy. That I needed to run away from it.

I used to be angry with God because of the pain, until I took the pain to Him and He replaced it with His beauty.

Then, I realized that pain was my friend. Pain DROVE me closer to God. It has a purpose."

I began seed saving last year. This spring I got to plant some of those seeds and they are beginning to sprout!

Did you know that you can only save seeds from an open pollinated or heirloom variety?

Heirloom seeds are carefully set apart, saved, and have been passed down for at least 50 years.

These seeds are able to reproduce true to the parent plant unlike hybrid seeds. This reminds me of something the Lord told my husband.

The Lord showed my husband 3 sections of earthen vessels. Each group represented a group of people. The first section of vessels were those who've rejected Him and wanted nothing to do with Him.

The second group was a mixed group - some who knew Christ, some didn't, and some who thought they knew Him. But they all had this in common : they hadn't fully made up their mind about Him. He said they were double-minded because they didn't have the heart of a child.

The final group He called pure and holy vessels. The Lord said that only these vessels would multiply whatever He put in them. He sprinkled love in one of the vessels and the love bubbled up and over until it began to affect all the pure and holy vessels.

The pure and holy vessels reminded me of the heirloom seeds that could reproduce. To be holy means to be set apart. To be pure means to not be mixed or hybrid (double-minded).

The more I plant and harvest, the more I see the Lord's kingdom and His righteousness. We, too, can walk with God in the garden.

Lord, I pray that you instruct us and prepare us to be pure and holy vessels for you.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

When we test for soil quality, we check for two things :
Does the soil hold together when squeezed? If it holds shape, plant roots have something to hold on to and can be established.

Does the soil easily break apart to drain smoothly? Drainage helps water to move freely and allows roots to grow deep.

When we are tested :
Do we hold firm to our identity in Christ? Are we allowing the Potter to continue to mold and shape us? Or do we begin to doubt and ask whether God has rejected us?

Are our hearts still broken and contrite? Or have the circumstances revealed a hardened heart that blocks out the flow of the Spirit in our life?

We do not know our own hearts. God alone knows its condition. We can deceive ourselves into thinking that our hearts are right with God.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9

However, when the foundation we've built our faith upon is tested, it reveals early signs of what our fruit will look like. Similar to how checking the condition of the soil can prevent failures in the garden.

Times of testing are, yet again, another invitation to draw closer to Him and allow Him to remove anything that does not allow the seed of His kingdom to thrive in our hearts.

Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity; And I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. Examine me, O Lord, and try me;
Test my mind and my heart.
Psalm 26:1-2

Thankfully, just as we amend and nourish our garden soil to improve our harvest, whatever surfaces during times of difficulty can be mended by the Master Gardener!!!

This won't stop me from what God has called me to do!

I made a post last week about praying over this account and the clarity I recieved.

I mentioned enduring a few challenges and felt led to be transparent about a few things behind the scenes.

Me and my family are thankful for each and every one of your prayers and support.

Difficult seasons in life are oppurtunities for us to trust God on another level.

Letting go of the cares of this world - whatever it may be - can be scary at first, but in the end it is so freeing.

We were never meant to carry burdens. Let Him take the weight off your shoulders today.

I've been praying over this account and the direction the Lord wants to take it.

I've been struggling to understand the many different directions I feel led to. Behind the scenes, I've been studying nutrition, physiology, herbalism, counseling, etc.

I asked the Lord, "Shouldn't there be a focus to Joyous Wonder? What is the primary message?" He graciously responded with a crystal clear vision.

He didn't just show me His intentions for the coming months, but also for the coming years. I sobbed as He tied everything together and showed me how it was all interconnected.

Throughout the years, I've desired less to share my passions on socials and have slowly transitioned to sharing more of what the Lord asks me to share.

Several years ago, the Lord rebuked me for posting a revelation He shared with me on a previous social account. "I didn't ask you to share that," He corrected me.

He continued explaining that He knew better of my friends' needs than I. That what I was sharing wasn't necessarily beneficial for the season they were in. Just because it was true didn't mean it was the best delivery, or even necessary for me to share.

How and when we share wisdom can, and often does, alter the intention and effectiveness of the message. Sisters, we don't want to simply share Christ. We want to do so obediently, and thereby more effectively.

How much more efficient are we when we lay down our self-righteous efforts and -completely- yield ourselves over to His wisdom and guidance?

Ever since then, I've been more cognizant of what I share on socials. I created this account with that in mind. I'm excited, yet at the same time terrified of what the Lord has up His sleeve.

You may notice over the coming months a shift in this account. The main feed will be much more focused then it has been. Stories will be more about everyday life.

Me and my family could use some major prayers. Ever since creating this account, we've undergone the most difficult of trials.

The Lord's refreshing direction for this account was immediately followed with grueling challenges. I very much appreciate every single prayer on our behalf.

This habit tracker has really helped me remain consistent with my daily goals. Once a habit is formed, I add another!

I've been working on further developing healthy foundational work (reducing stress, proper nutrition, more outdoors, etc).

My daily goal was to eat within 30 minutes of waking to provide my body the energy and regulation necessary to begin the day.

After my fifth was born, I got into a bad habit of skipping breakfast. I tried several times of reintroducing with no success.

I was finally able to incorprate breaksfast with a plan to start small and simple :
- Prepping breakfasts at night made it easy to grab quickly in the morning.
- Snackable serving sizes were key for transitioning and encouraging apetite.
- Simple recipes helped me to stick with my plan.
- The habit tracker provided a visual reminder of my goals and a reason to celebrate.

It feels good to have accomplished that goal and my body has been thanking me for it! Now, on to the next one!
